Landlords within the relevant income threshold need a digital record-keeping process that covers property income and expenses.
What income counts
HMRC uses gross qualifying income before expenses from self-employment and property. If you have both, the relevant amounts are combined.
Records to organise
- Rental income and dates received
- Agent statements and fees
- Repairs, insurance and service costs
- Mortgage-interest information where relevant
- Records for each property or property business
What quarterly updates are
Quarterly updates send summary income and expense information through compatible software. They do not replace the need to review and finalise the year.
